BEYOND SHADOW
BOOK DESIGN
In Sudi's first artist book she shows her unique view on the world. Her way of looking was influenced by her father, who used to turn off the lights in the house, while casting light onto a small courtyard. Sudi and her father cherished the serene view of the garden through the curtain. 'It was a simple yet tranquil and peaceful moment.'

For the book BEYOND SHADOW, this concept truly comes to life. The cover itself is left completely blank with nothing but the title on it. Shrouded by a plastic wrap-around with nothing but an image and a tiny Japanese symbol on it. By implementing this concept, the Kanji symbol (Japanese for 'shadow') only becomes visible when its own shadow is cast onto the empty cover beneath.
