'FROZEN HERITAGE - Arctic Vaults & The Future of our History'
The Nordic Gene Bank, the Global Seed Vault and the Arctic World Archive. Three inaccessible vaults in Svalbard, dedicated to protecting and preserving food biodiversity and human heritage. These archives are set deep within the Arctic mountains, so that they remain intact for hundreds of years. The book provides an overview and a behind-the-scenes look at the world's most extreme and least accessible repositories, hidden deep in the Arctic permafrost.
Each chapter starts with black paper, submerging the reader into the darkness. Trillingual texts and graphics are printed in white ink. The images shine on a high-white, satin paper. The title is embossed deeply into the cover, which is clad with a white, suede material.
