BOOK DESIGN
In Christa Geeroms’s first photobook, she focuses on the man and woman ‘next door’ through the lens of stylized nonchalance. It is an unpretentious and authentic character study, with a nostalgic look at most, lacking any frills or finery without doubt.
This lovely nonchalance is reflected in the bookdesign, printed in a format that resembles the family-portrait photos we all have at home. Bound using a wiro to further emphasize this feeling of recognizability. Yet, all decisions in the design are fresh and surprising; a cardboard cover with a green oversized wiro that is set off-centre, just like the lay-out inside.
