Panamarenko
BOOK DESIGN
Panamarenko began building his first technical machines: the flying bicycle ‘Das Flugzeug’ (1968) and the impressive zeppelin ‘The Aeromodeller’ (1971). Later, he devised mechanisms for the movement of insect wings, even before scientists did, and designed
convincing concepts for spacecraft that harness the magnetic forces in the universe. Ultimately, it is almost impossible to place Panamarenko’s work within a specific style or movement because his oeuvre is so unique, extensive, and innovative. The combination of artistic insight and technological experimentation ensures that his spectacular constructions exude a kind of strange beauty, both playfully and impressively.
The book is trillingual and printed on high-end paper. The cover of the book clad with an embossed paper, in which the title and a sketch of Panamarenko's work is heat-pressed. The title is set in experimental type, impressed with red hotfoil. The book was printed in a limited edition for Samuel Vanhoegaerden Gallery.
